1941 Johnson .30-06 Rifle

This item for auction is a 1941 Johnson Semi Auto Rifle Cal. 30-06.

This rifle belongs to a friend of mine who is now 81 years old and has asked me to list it for auction.

It was purchased in 1979 from the owner of Sport Service Center, Mr. Paul Haberly, 2364 North Neva, Chicago Illinois 60635, who was selling off his personal collection at that time.  This gun was built by a master gunsmith as a "one of a kind" and should not be confused with a Winfield Arms

Sporter conversion.  All metal has been highly buffed and polished before a deep royal bluing job was applied.  Some components are gold plated, including the trigger, trigger guard, safety selector and sling swivels. The Stock appears to be hand carved with a rich hand rubbed oil finish. The bore is in bright shiny condition and on top is a Bushnell 4X Model Scope Chief with what may be a custom made mount.  The current owner states that in all the time he has owned it, he has never fired it.  At one point in time the gun was shipped to the east coast for an auction and was damaged in shipping.

The stock was cracked and then repaired by a professional furniture restoration shop.  Documentation on the repair can be furnished upon request.  There are minor flaws that exist, such as tiny dings in the stock; however nothing that detracts from its overall appearance.

Purchase of this rifle includes a new walnut military stock, inletted and ready to install and a mainspring tube assembly to fit into the rear of the stock.

Overall, this is a fine piece of craftsmanship on a very rare and limited production military rifle and would be an excellent addition to any collection or a

perfect candidate for original military configuration restoration. Shipment to FFL only. as of this time, no sales to California, DOJ registration not completed yet.
